Five countries in nine days was really moving. Up every morning early, usually breakfast by 7 AM, lunch normally between the hours of 2 to 3 PM and then to the hotels with dinner at about 7 to 8 PM. Made for a filled day. On tour we saw much but the outstanding points were the Hofbraühaus in Munich, Innsbruck, in Venice St. Mark's Square and the evening Gondola ride through the canals of Venice, Renaissance Florence and the statue of David, Lucerne with the Lake Cruise and ride up the cog-wheel railway to the top of Mount Piatus (where we found a snow blizzard in progress) followed by the cable ride down, and finally to Paris with a trip up the Eiffel Tower, a visit to the Louvre (the Mona Lisa, Venus De Milo and the winged Victory), the Palace of Versailles and then finally a dinner show at the Moulin Rouge. And probably best of all the company of Joe and Bernadine with us all the way. Before starting our tour we had four days in Germany and visits with family that I found in 2005. A visit to the home my great-grandfather built in the village of Reckrod and where my grandfather was born, the village of Grüsselbach where my Great-Grandfather was born and where a cousin still lives. Dinner at a restaurant founded by an ancestor in the mid 1800's and still existing. The tour of the ancestral home was really something and finding things there that I knew nothing of. The one and one-half ride from Frankfurt took us through the beautiful countryside of Hesse. We visited Aschaffenburg, Würzburg had dinner with family in Glattbach (all in Bavaria). We also had two additional days in Paris after the official tour ended and we took advantage by visiting the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees and a Seine River cruise. It was a fantastic trip! Between Joe and I we took almost 2,000 pictures. Now the task of sorting them out after we get them all downloaded.
