    3. I read with interest your discussion. My grandfather, Oswald Carl Buttig, in the 1920 United States Census listed his birth place as: Saxony (Kingdom State) {Sachsen (Kgr./Land in Bundesrepublik) Saxony (Kingdom?State); Deutschland} and his Father's Birth Place as: Saxony (Kingdom State). In some research on(www.flaggenlexikon.de/fdtprvsx.htm), it stated that in 1816 - creation of the Province of Saxony from the following territories: .from the Kingdom of Saxony to Prussia ceded territories; . the Prussian territories Altmark and Magdeburg Town. The formerly to Mainz belonging possessions Erfurt Town and Eichsfeld. And, in 1944 partition of the Province of Saxony into the Provinces of Magdeburg and Halle-Merseburg, the Governmental District to Erfurt came to Thuringia. And in 1945, unification of the Provinces of Magdeburg and Hale-Merseburg, with the country Anhalt to the country Province of Saxony - Anhalt. I am still trying to find a map which would show the exact location of the Kingdom of Saxony in about 1816. Any ideas?
