Dear Listers: I also seek a CAPTAIN' LOG. That of CAPT. CHASE, Master of the MARCIA C. DAY that departed LEHAVRE, FRANCE in 1854 (departing date unknown), and arrived NEW ORLEANS, March 13, 1854. Aboard is SUSANNA DILG & FREDERIC FUNK, my g-g-grandparents from Hesse-Darmstadt. According to the 1860 & 1870 OH. Census, their first child SOPHIA JOSEPHINE was "born-at-sea". The ship's manifest does not specify a birth and SUSANNA is listed as a male. If a child was born at sea would the Captain's log so notate that fact? I find no births registered in New Orleans, and have received no response from sources in LeHavre, France. I'm assuming such a voyage would be lengthy, perhaps two months. What are the odds of finding this log, or is there a source that would indicate births at sea for year 1854? Thanks, EKH . > > > > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
