Thank you, Ursula!! The way I see it is this: Henri went to PA in 1883. He returned to Germany/Belgium some time before 1889 since that was the year his first son, George, was born in Germany. Then, the family came over to America; Census records say Henri, Mary, and George immigrated in 1891. I can't find Mary and George on any ship in 1891... Little Charles (Karl) was born in NJ 08 Mar 1893. Since there is a record of Mary, George, and Karl arriving in NY on September 12, 1899 aboard the Kensington, from Antwerp, I am assuming she took the babies back "home" to visit her family.
