    2. This is who and where I am genealogically. I'm looking for the home, departure date and location, and any other relevant information about my gg grandparents. I've been researching this for more than a decade and would appreciate any possibly relevant information. What I know about them follows: 1. Johan Welter, born about 1807 in Prussia, died in Marion County, Indiana in October 1879. 2. His wife was Christiana Maria Hamer/Horner was born about 1805 in Prussia and she died in Marion County, Indiana in March of 1876. 3. They brought with them to America five children, each born in Prussia: Elizabeth (b. 1834), Christian (b. 1839), John (b. 1842), Emma (b. 1844) & Margaret (1851). 4. According to the 1860 US Census, they were farmers and were living in Marion County, Indiana. 5. In US Census records, they arrived in 1853 and all listed Prussia as their birthplace except Christian whose place of birth is Hannover. 6. They were members of St. Johannes Evangelische Kirche in Warren Township, Marion County, Indiana. Family oral history says they came from “Grafsolms, near Cologne”. According to German researchers, this cannot be a place name.  I believe English ears heard a German voice say something that sounded like "Grafsolms". Personally, I'm retired and overly busy with volunteer work and hobbies, none of which I consider a waste or something to give up. My husband also enjoys researching his family history. Nancy in CA
