My name is Chuck Van Den Eeden and live in Lombard, IL. I have been doing genealogy research for about 12 years with ancestors primarily from East Flanders, Belgium and Luxembourg. My maternal Luxembourg / Belgium relatives have the surname BISSEN and, in researching them, I came across 3 other researchers of this surname and since then I have been trying to connect the 4 family groups. Two have been connected but the must elusive one his Henry William Bissen b. 18 Sept 1865, b. ?, Germany who immigrated to Kauai,Hawaii Apr 1883 on the ship Erhenfels as a contract worker with about 800 others. My current goal is to find his birth place in order to find his family - It is believed his father's name was Henry, mother was Maria / Marie and he may have had sister name Bertha. I am hoping the newly opened Bermerhaven immigration Museum will have ship records with a more detailed ship manifest - the Hawaii manifest has only his name as H. BISSEN. And that I can find a volunteer reseacher who has access to the Museum and will help me. Chuck
