I am searching for grandparents several generations back. Peter Ginther was born about 1700-1720 in Palatine, Wurttemberg, area of Germany. His wife is Susanna Ros Stoes, also born in the same area. My information comes from a book written by Jennie Stewart. They emigrated to the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area and died there, he in 1742 and no for sure date on her death. Their only child I know about is Peter Ginther who was born 17 Jan 1740 and wed Maria Catherina Williams on 29 June 1762. After Maria died he married Elizabeth Swartz and they 5 had children. Maria died in Lebanon, PA. Peter and Elizabeth died in Gnadenhutten, Ohio area. My other German ancestor is Henry Graves who with is wife, Ann, emigrated to Wisconsin. He was born about 1835 in Hamburg and she gives her birthplaces as Bremen. My husband and I are sort of retired ranchers in the high desert of Eastern Oregon. Parents of 3 sons, and grandparents of 6. I have been doing family history for years. But, have hit a road block on my German ancestors. We are planning a trip to Germany in June 2009 with one son and his children. My husband will revisit where he was stationed when he was in the Army. I want to see where my ancestors came from and Wurttemberg is a very large area! We have friends who are German with whom we will be staying. They are most anxious to help with my research...but I need to narrow down the area! Thanks for all the ideas, and suggestions you have to share. Diane
