Would anyone know of someone who could look up 3 records in Berlin Archives for me? The LDS does not have these particular films and has no plans to film them. I posted this on the Berlin list but had no replies. I am not even sure this is where to post for this request. I will give additional information if anyone can help. Thanks in advance. Mary

Hello Ken, the place you want to contact is the EZA, short for Evangelical Central Archive, in Berlin. Whatever you cannot find at the LDS you will find here, especially records from the former East Germany and all other German states that were formerly part of Prussia and are now in Poland, Russia etc. I visited the EZA 2 years ago. This is a very small (compared to the LDS) and busy place and according to their website there is currently a waiting list of up to 3 months for an appointment to visit their archives. Unfortunately, the website is in German, but from what I gather, they will do a very limited amount of research for a fee. While there, I picked up a brochure I found on the secretaries' desk that was from 2 women who will do research for a fee. Be prepared to pay some Euros. Short of visiting the archives yourself, I would contact them and ask if they could refer a researcher for you. This would be much safer than looking for someone online. This has become a very lucrative business for some charlatans so buyer beware! These 2 women lived in Berlin and were regularly visiting the EZA, so they may combine their research with that from several clients.
