Ursula, I couldn't agree more. This man has always been very challenging to locate. My husband gets a kick out of my tirades about how difficult his ancestors are. For a while it seemed that this particular Fuhrmeister just sprouted out of the dirt in Texas. Or he was one of the ones who sat on his door step with a shotgun just incase a census taker happened to show up. Come to think of it I still have not found him on the 1860 census for Bexar county Texas. I know he lived there in 1860 because he was married in January and bought land in March. The census wasn't taken for that area till the summer. At least that is what is suggested by what is on line. I don't know if the Wilhelmina Fuhrmeister is part of my line she could be but at this time I am not sure. Heinrich had four sisters(no brother so far) the younger two were Wilhelmina Luisa and Wilhelmina Johanna, so it very well could be one of them. I will be looking into that for sure. So much of what I have now I have obtained with in the last two or three years. Thank you Ursula and Karl I did go ahead and order the microfiche from the FHL. What is nice about this is it is not a film it is a fiche so it was only .15 cents for each one (.45 cents total) and they will stay at the FHL and not be returned so I can look at them when ever I want. Keep your fingers crossed that he will be on there. > Date: Sat, 6 Mar 2010 21:52:07 +0000 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [G-P-L] Fuhrmeister > > Kerry, > > this is most frustrating. I have a copy of Heinrich Fuhrmeister's Declaration of Intent to Naturalize. On this document he says he landed in Galveston, Texas on or about 4th of December 1854. No ship name though :( At least it is something. What I was told was wrong he didn't enter at Pittsburg. > > > > What sources would have these passenger lists? Here is what I have checked so far; Ancestry.com they have a group of passenger lists that should cover the year and port that I need but it skips 1853,54,55,and 56. This is also a film that is available through the FHL but since it is from the same NARA information that ancestry has I don't think the list I need would be on there. I am not sure if the Texas Seaport Museum has recovered from the last Hurricane which devastated Galveston. Is there any other source for the port of Galveston TX for December 1854? > > > > Any idea's would be great > > Thanks Kerry > > _________________________________________________________________ > Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
