Dave, I know you are trying to help but you are coming in on the tail end of this thread and are confusing the issue. The passenger list states that the emigrant came from "Bargfeld, Hesse-Kassel". The problem with that is that there is no town by the name of 'Bargfeld' or 'Bergfeld' or 'Burgfeld' or 'Barchfeld' in the state of Hesse-Kassel!! End of story. There is a 'Bargfeld' and a 'Barchfeld' in Thuringia but not in Hesse-Kassel! Therefore, something is not right on the passenger list, either he came from Bargfeld in Thuringia or from the one in Lower Saxony or he came from another town in Hesse-Kassel. When you have something like that to look up, try using Google to search "Bergfeld, Germany Wiki", or whatever you are looking for. In this case, you will get a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergfeld This page does not have any information other than a map and the name of the State in Germany where it is located. Some Wiki pages have a lot of good information, and some do not. You can most of the time count on Wikipedia to at least have what the Bergfeld page has. Dave
