I am just catching up on some saved emails. I live in central Minnesota, and grew up in the rural Hennepin County area and we had and do have both Luchts and Berndt. Almost all the families that were German and settled in rural Maple Grove came from the Posen area. My family, Beier, came from Rogow in central Posnan. And so did the Hiller family which lived next door. Luchts from my area are wriiten down on census lists as coming from Posnan. so you might want to do a family search in the catalog and try that province first if you are still hunting.
