Good morning list.... Can anyone help me with some old photo's.... They were put on black paged photo albums with glue, and when they were torn off the black pages some of that black paper is stuck on the photo back. The photo's have writing on the back of them. Is there any safe way of removing that residue of old black paper from the back of the photo? Hello, C & also C: If the solvent does work, perhaps you could try a SINGLE-edged razor blade. Trim the glue off parallel to the photo plane without cutting into the paper. Go slowly and carefully! If you get the slice thin enough, you might be able to read right through it, depending on the glue used. And do be careful not to allow the solvent to seep onto the face of the photo, just in case. Of course, if the budget allows it, a preservation specialist would be the safest way to go. Ask a large museum or library nearby who they would recommend locally. Some museums will do presevation work, too, I believe. Best of luck! --- On Wed, 2/3/10, Clayton A Olson <[email protected]> wrote: ...Can anyone help me with some old photo's... C&C
