    3. Hello, Susan, at first, the phrase " Schule zum Halben Taucher" didn't make much sense to me, but after some investigation, with the help of a few good Germans it seems to be alright.. You have to divide this sentence into two parts.. I think the words got twisted around a bit and the first part should mean "halbe Schule" see my article in our WIKI: http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/Halbe_Schule Then, the next part would be "Taucher", which is an area (forest) near Bautzen and even now, there is still the "Taucher" cemetery near Bautzen.. Does it make sense to you now ? If you have more questions, just keep asking.. We have a lot very smart helpers.. Have a nice evening, wherever you are, Wolf > Please tell me the meaning of the phrase "nach der Art der Schule zum Halben > Taucher", when placed after the burial date in the funeral records of St. Petri > church in Bautzen. 3. Thank you so much, Wolf. All my translations for Taucher were diver or immersion. I was trying to make it fit for burial, but couldn't find anything that made sense. I also didn't know how a school fit in. They were a family of blacksmiths and armor makers so a simple funeral would fit. It is amazing how each new family discovery just makes me want another. I am freezing in Wisconsin enjoying the longer days of sunshine and hope of an early spring. My best to all, Susan ________________________________ From: Wolf Zscheile <saxonyroots@charter.net> To: SAXONY_ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com; SAXONY-L@rootsweb.com; Germany-Passenger-Lists-L <Germany-Passenger-Lists-L@rootsweb.com>; Genealogy.net-users-en <genealogy.net-users-en@genealogy.net> Sent: Mon, February 7, 2011 5:22:12 PM Subject: Re: [G-P-L] nach der Art der Schule zum Halben Taucher Hello, Susan, at first, the phrase " Schule zum Halben Taucher" didn't make much sense to me, but after some investigation, with the help of a few good Germans it seems to be alright..
