Hello Nancy, What a precious find. I have contacted the descendant of Pauline Schmidt nee Vogelbacher after I found her family tree online. I have given the family researcher your email address. His surname is TTSchakert. He had posted the following obituary online, which corresponds with the info contained in the bible. I did not find any family tree for Oehler, however, there is a chance that the surname was changed. Here is the obit: Thursday November 17, 1955 Services Saturday For Mrs . J. Schmidt On Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, services were held from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ortonville, for Mrs. John Schmidt, whose death occurred at her home here Wednesday, November 8, at the age of 85. Rev. E. R. Priess conducted the services. Interment was in Mound cemetery. Soloist at the service was Jerome Delgehausen, who was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ernest Stoltenberg. Paulina Vogelbacher was born on June 8, 1870, in Lausheim, Baden, Germany. She came to America at the age of 21 and on May 30, 1894, she was united in marriage at Piper City, Illinois with John Schmidt. In 1909 the family established their home on a farm in Yellow Bank Township. Since her husbands death in 1928 she made her home in Ortonville. She leaves two daughters; Mrs. Arthur Oehler (Ruth) of Milbank and Mrs. Helen Kelzer of New Ulm, one son Fred of Big Stone City, several grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one brother August Vogelbacher of Piper City, Illinois. Pallbearers were Leonard Fitzner, Henry Roelke, Ernest Stoltenberg, Robert Baerwald, George Kelzer and A. C. Saeger. Thanks Ursula, I think I will copy this obit and add it to the Bible, seems fitting. Funny that it turned up in Paris, Texas. I am sure that I must have gotten it at an auction and had just never sorted through the box til now. Thinking back, I didn't attend the auction where this must have come from, but was in the purchase of the remnants that were not bidded on and I bought the remaining property in bulk. nancy ----- Original Message ---- From: Ursula B Adamson <ubatrans@comcast.net> To: germany-passenger-lists@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, March 22, 2011 10:44:17 PM Subject: Re: [G-P-L] Schmidt / Oehler Family Bible Hello Nancy, What a precious find.
