Bettina, Where is Katlowitz? You sure you have the correct spelling. These towns do change their names sometimes. Did you ever look for that town in Meyers Ort it's available online at Ancestry Go to these various links and also the previous ones ask them for assistance. Just remember don't be afraid to ask for assistance from out there. Another thing is contact the "Maus" via e-mail in English. Karl Wilhelm Leopold Jaeger was born 1885 in Katlowitz. Came to New York about 1918-1922, likely from any of the ports of Bremen, Bremerhaven or Hamburg. Lived in Frankfurt. Parents were Karl Leopold Jaeger and Ottilie Pauline Borchardt. All my mother knew was that he left for the U.S. (NY). She suspected that he did not want to serve in the military and was either ashamed or ostracized. He was in NY at some point as a friend of the family sent his mother a picture - she saw him at the Salvation Army. I contacted the Salvation Army and they could not help. I've looked through the U.S. census info, but Jaeger is a fairly common name. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you again for posting this new database.
