Hello, I am looking for information on my Great Grandfather. I have some documents that say he was born in Prussia in around 1832. Have no idea who his parents were. In the 1880 U.S. Census he is listed living in Tennessee, age 48. I have no idea who his parents were or where they might have Been from in Germany. Sorry Jeff I knew where my gr grandparents were from as my grandmother was a 1st generation and that information was known. I had never been able to place exactly where the area was located and this Prussian map 1866 shows exactly where and I am thrilled to see that. If you don't have Ancestry go to your library and you may use their computer to get on Ancestry as well as Mormon church library. Good luck. Hello Jeff, There is more than one person by the name of Aaron Davidson living in TN; there is Aaron the 'Peddler' and Aaron the 'Optometrist'; judging by the surname and the first names, they were Jewish in origin. When I entered 'Aaron Davidson, b. 1832, in the immigration search I found an Aaron Davidson, age 20, single, immigrating from Hamburg, Germany on 20 Jun 1852 on the ship 'Washington'. On the 1870 census I found Aaron Davidson, 35, married to Mollie with children Rachel [4] and Ruth [3] in Memphis [Shelby] TN. On the 1900 census, Aaron, now widowed, he said that he immigrated in 1850. I suggest that you do a little more digging within the family and among the relatives [other siblings of Rachel and Ruth]; a) when and where was he married? b) where was his wife born, date of birth, and so on. c) obtain exact date of birth for Aaron [born around 1832 won't do]; d) when and where was he naturalized; obtain naturalization records.
