I thought a fax would be very expensive. I wrote to the Evangelical Church in Westphalia in 1999. They have a fax and phone number. I'm trying to find out if my GG Grandfather who immigrated to this country in 1881 and other family's GG grandfather who stayed in Germany are brothers or cousins. The one who stayed in Germany died fairly young so the son who immigrated did'nt know much about his father. Molkenbur in Westphalia is the family I am searching. In 1999 I sent a letter by snail mail and receieved some valuable information. When I go to the site now I just see fax and phone numbers. Both would be to expensive. I have found another family in Minnesota that has the same last name, but we have traced as far back as we can in the US. We know we are cousins but think the link must be back in Germany. Any help would be appreciated. Marlene, Have you looked at the newest Family Search Beta website? It has many records in it with your surname Molkenbur. It also has birth records to piece together the families. If you can connect to some of them it does list parents in some too. I have found many records through there and many more than was in the old Family Search IGI. It could give you some leads. www.familysearch.org Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marlene Schwark" <klutzie56@hotmail.com> To: <germany-passenger-lists@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2011 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [G-P-L] Information from Germany by email? > > I thought a fax would be very expensive. Hello Marlene, please could you tell a bit more about your Molkenbur ancestors, such as names, ages, and place where they came from, maybe I can help you. That name is quite rare and so it should be possible to find relatives. Of course it is possible to write emails to German church offices. Don't think that there is any parish without email address, most of them also have a homepage, where you can find a contact address. Should be possible to find it by google. And: today in many German communities there are genealogical groups or clubs, many of them attached to the local Heimatverein.
