Hello All, I hope you had a good start into the New year and are ready to continue with the search for your ancestors !! What is the present stage of your research ?? Are you making any progress ? Usually, you start with getting all possible information from your family members. Then you continue with the county, states etc. archives to get all the available info from your country.. When you have exhausted all these resources, you probably will try to find more info from passenger lists. Unfortunately, in most cases there is not much additional information available and very often you will just get the useless answer "Germany" or "Prussia" as the place of origin.. Now, to continue, it could be getting quite complicated and many will give up on that stage because of language and budget limitations.. But, we will NEVER give up and the internet can be a wonderful help for digging deeper into the German archives. Many of them are available on line, however they are a "nightmare" for foreigners to dig in.. We have started to add the emigrants from the Baden Wuerttemberg area of Germany to our database and so far we have over 3,000 emigrants to South America. Emigrants to Australia and North America will follow.. If you find your ancestors in our database: http://www.germanyroots.com/Ancestors_Database you can add your information with the "edit" mode.. You can also add the surnames you are researching to our database. Our database is visited by thousandths of people every month from all over the world and adding the surnames you are researching will increase your chance for breaking down another "brick-wall".. Hi Wolf, Thanks for asking. I haven't done too much lately as I slowed down to take a DNA test. Very interesting. I also have been in a lot of pain from my back. I have been trying to just keep up with my mailing lists. As soon as I am able I need to finish a database job that I volunteered for before getting back to research. I hope you and everyone else on the list has a good and fruitful year.
