Hello Kerry, I remember doing this search before; there are oodles of FUHRMEISTERs who immigrated to the US both male and female but I found only one HEINRICH FUHRMEISTER b. abt 1852 who sailed from Hamburg to Rio de Janeiro on 19 Aug 1887; he was a merchant and a resident of Porto Alegre, Brazil; The only Fuhrmeister I found to have arrived in Galveston was Wilhelmine FUHRMEISTER, 24, who arrived on 11 Dec 1868 on the Bark Fortuna. Unfortunately, the Galveston online passenger lists don't allow searches by arrival date only by name. Sorry I could'nt be of more help. Ursula, Thank you for looking again, I knew that I had asked that question in the past but things change so much on the net. I think that the woman you found may be a sister but I am not sure. The closest person to my guy is a Heinrich Fiemiester who came into Galveston in 1852 on the ship Francisca. I have ordered a film which I am hoping has another part of his Naturaliztion documents in it. Maybe it will say a ship name...keeping my fingers crossed!
