I hope it stops .^_^. Thanks. --- On Wed, 3/30/11, Baerbel Johnson <JohnsonBx@familysearch.org> wrote: ...banging my head against the proverbial Wiki wall....Volume 1 is missing. Baerbel

    3. Marlene, Molkenbur in Quernheim, Westphalia? Or were else? Contacting the Evangelical Church in Westphalia is OK, but you could directly contact their archive. The archivists are really very much willing to help and even open to provide research results by email. In case it is Quernheim: Are you aware that the LDS has microfilmed church books for Quernheim (1714-1961)? So depending on the time frame you could simply get these films on lease at your nearby FHC. I wrote to the Evangelical Church in Westphalia in 1999. They have a fax and phone number. I'm trying to find out if my GG Grandfather who immigrated to this country in 1881 and other family's GG grandfather who stayed in Germany are brothers or cousins. The one who stayed in Germany died fairly young so the son who immigrated did'nt know much about his father. Molkenbur in Westphalia is the family I am searching. 3. Hello Marlene, please could you tell a bit more about your Molkenbur ancestors, such as names, ages, and place where they came from, maybe I can help you. That name is quite rare and so it should be possible to find relatives. Of course it is possible to write emails to German church offices. Don't think that there is any parish without email address, most of them also have a homepage, where you can find a contact address. Should be possible to find it by google. And: today in many German communities there are genealogical groups or clubs, many of them attached to the local Heimatverein. Actually I think they arrived with the Palatine Germans in Carolina Colony in the about 1760 but I have no idea where in Germany they came from or what ships their ports of arrival or the ships they arrived in. Any and all help would be fantastic. I have spent 10 years researching my family along with over 200 researchers of our surname, we have a site on MyFamily where we share information, but alas we have not found where our family entered the country. > Conrad Holsomback > triconholsomback@greenwood.net > > > For all the latest News, please visit our Homepage: http://www.germanyroots.com > > Please visit and participate in our new forum > http://www.germanyroots.com/phpBB3/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > For all the latest News, please visit our Homepage: http://www.germanyroots.com > > Please visit and participate in our new forum > http://www.germanyroots.com/phpBB3/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message                            For all the latest News, please visit our Homepage: http://www.germanyroots.com Please visit and participate in our new forum http://www.germanyroots.com/phpBB3/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message        For all the latest News, please visit our Homepage: http://www.germanyroots.com Please visit and participate in our new forum http://www.germanyroots.com/phpBB3/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hello Marlene, Where or to which church did you send your letter in 1999? Why can't you send a fax? It only costs pennies and if you have a newer computer you can send your fax from your computer. As to the SCHWARKs, there are quite a few families from Mecklenburg-Schwerin who settled in Macomb County, Michigan. I have been searching for Christian Schwark's passenger list for years. He and his wife and a young son, John, settled in St Clair County, MI around 1853. Christian was killed in a sawmill accident in 1859. His descendants are still living in this area. Much luck with your research. I am wondering if it is possible to get information from German churches by email. In 1999 I sent a letter by snail mail and receieved some valuable information. When I go to the site now I just see fax and phone numbers. Both would be to expensive. I have found another family in Minnesota that has the same last name, but we have traced as far back as we can in the US. We know we are cousins but think the link must be back in Germany. Any help would be appreciated. Marlene in Minnesota www.thehungersite.com http://www.codeamber.org

    3. Marlene, Have you looked at the newest Family Search Beta website? It has many records in it with your surname Molkenbur. It also has birth records to piece together the families. If you can connect to some of them it does list parents in some too. I have found many records through there and many more than was in the old Family Search IGI. It could give you some leads. www.familysearch.org Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marlene Schwark" <klutzie56@hotmail.com> To: <germany-passenger-lists@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2011 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [G-P-L] Information from Germany by email? > > I thought a fax would be very expensive. 3. I thought a fax would be very expensive. 2. I was able to just google (Grafenberg) to a web page and sent an email to the Senior citizens group asking for a family name contact. Got a generation (my GF) counterpart of GGGGG's brother. Talking now to fill blanks of my line, still difficult, language and tree direct - I think I will have to ask for a referral to the Church for records to find confirmed information. Good luck - walls may crumble but still stand in your way. In a message dated 3/29/2011 1:46:01 P.M. Some even don't reply to any email being sent to them. Which church/parish are you trying to contact - maybe I will be able to help.
