    3. I just joined the list and read the email from Maria. It contained interesting information. I saw IL mentioned. I'm looking for MARIA LANDER who was in St.Clair County, IL having children under the name Maria Wolf starting in 1866. I need to find her before this time as Maria Lander. I can't even find a marriage record. There was a Maria Lander age one who came to the U.S. (New York) on Sep. 3, 1835 on the Ship Charles Carroll. This could be her. She was with her father Caspar Lander, her mother, and a four year old brother, Joseph. Perhaps someone has an ancestor on that same passage and could write to me. I have been looking a long time. Good luck with all your brick walls. Darlene

I'm a bit confused about the children "Julius" and "Bertha Emilie" who do not appear on the 1870 census. You wrote that Bertha Emilie married in 1886. 3. Thanks for the posting of the maps. You are a sweetie! Digging through all the insults, anger and stuff and you do the right thing. Was such a nice gesture by Myri and I hope the short temperedness (new word) by those who were upset about all the emails doesn't deter her from doing such a nice thing in the future. To those who "blew your stacks" over the emails, pray hard this is the worse thing you have to deal with in life! Chill out my friends. I have printed and appreciate them so much! Since we are researching the Granparents who were Bertagnolli, who were born with an Italian name but felt they were more German than Italian and spoke 5 languages to make it around during the Hapsburg rule, we now have some understanding right in our hands why they felt that way. Their area is shown on the Central European Map of 1786 Danker/Mil Grazie Carol in Oregon

    3. I couldn't help but laugh when I read Dick's message! This morning, "Ballad of Josie" with Doris Day and Peter Graves was on tv, twice. Dick made me think of those cowboys, on their horses, trying to rope and herd Josie's sheep, like cattle, to no avail. Sheep went everywhere except the intended direction. The two shepherds and their dog, just watched. When the cowboys were exhausted, the shepherd just gave the command for the dog to round up the sheep. I can just see all of us, running around every direction, like those sheep, while the shepherds watch and wonder what on earth we're doing. Talk about herding cats, only bigger.
