I get 114 Lander’s for IL in 1860 – no Maria’s. There are 27 using a birth of 1835 +/- 5 yrs. Do you have any idea what county? Do you know where she was born? In 1880 there’s a Maria Lander b IL abt 1839, living in Martinez, Contra Costa, CA. Another b abt 1822 in Ireland, living in Holyoke, Hampden, MA Betty FL Dear Betty, If it's not a problem, please look for any Lander in the IL 1860 Census. I'm particularly looking for Maria Lander but don't know if she was there in 1860 or not. I don't know her parents. Maria would have been about 25 on the 1860 Census. Darlene

Hi Wolf, Is the information on transcribing list on the website somewhere or would you have to send it out to a person. The reason I ask is I would not mind helping some. If you put together an Excel spreadsheet with the format that would do the job it would be much easier for all to jump in and help. All transcription would then be the same and it is easy to put data into a pre-formatted sheet that to have to make one on your on (even I can do that). Hi, Pat, well, that would be GREAT and actually it is verrry easy to do. Hopefully, I can encourage some more of our members to transcribe passengerlists. There are still 'thousands' to do and it only takes patience and a little bit of TLC... All you have to do is write down what you see on the passengerlist. It would be ideal to use a spreadsheet, but any other format would be fine too, as long as you are consistent with your writings.. Let me know if you want more info.. Hello Patricia, I thought I had sent you the passenger lists for these people from Lauterbach. If you're hoping for someone in Germany to contact you, your chances would be much greater if you'd send this info to Hessen-List at rootsweb. Hi Gerald; I sent this a couple of days ago and it got kicked back to me. Sorry 'bout that--Masugu Hi Gerald; No, my Straight/Strait line is English, traced back to one Henry Straight of 17th Century R.I. (The Streit spelling is German/Dutch). However, my Koenig line is from Luxembourg. Cheers, Masugu

Hi Judy, Yes the area is the same as you have but I cannot find a Dunsbach on a recent map. Being a member of the Anglo German Family History Sosiety, they advised that Dunsbach used to be a "dorf" small village so may have been subsumed by a larger place. This information has been confirmed by Stadt Schwabisch Gmund Stadtarchiv' Dunsbach was a little village near the town of Gerabronn and both administered by the district of Schwabisch Hall. From the year 1876 family records can be seen at the town administration of Gerabronn before that date they were administered by the church. To locate this place, travel north from Stuttgart, look east for Crailssheim, from Crailsheim travel north and look west for Gerabronn,Dunsbach is 7km west of Crailsheim. Thank you for your interest.
