    3. GGrandfather, Karl Endlein, wife, Catherina Ehl ( or ----) arrived at Castle Garden on May 8,1871 on the ship Abysinnia out of Liverpool, England. They had two young children, Maria and Casper with them. Passenger list and all U.S. Censuses list them as Nassau, Germany being their birthplaces. Have no idea how they got to Liverpool nor where in Nassau they came from. Can anyone give suggestions or any help in establishing their origin? Thanks. Cas

These 4 lived in Kansas I am not sure How accurate this information is accurate as I got the information from someone else, who thought that we were related somehow. I would really like to find the other 4 children, as I think that one of the 4 missing children would be my husbands Great grandfather. Thank You all for any Help that you can give me. 3. Hi Betty, did you ever try our FOKO and GEDBAS databases ?? http://foko.genealogy.net/ http://gedbas.genealogy.net/ Unfortunately, most of the text is still in German only. Hopefully someone will step in and start translating.. In FOKO there is a 'Hurrelbrink' listing for 'Venne' and you can ask for more info.. And there are 3 listings in GEDBAS.. Hope this info will help you somewhat and if you need any more help, just ask.. 3. Hi Susan, thanks for your suggestion !! Well, actually, this is already done in our database and this is the way they are listed. Each passenger has an id number, but ..it just doesn't show up this way 'YET' on the screen. It takes only a minor 're-programming' and adding an extra link and Ursula and many of our subscribers should be 'happy'. I will let you know when this is built in.. This is the ONLY way to improve things and make them easier to access for all of us. 3. Hi Ursula, We're very appreciative of good ideas and suggestions. I know there has been some database function problems which Wolf Z., the Admin., has been working on. This is in reference to the Ships and Passenger List web pages. 1) Early this morning I tested the vessel , named Constitution after your email. Test: I could bring up Code 3 ID 16 Constitution, Bark ~ on the German-language page but not the English-language side. I was able to bring up (no code showing) ID 6357 Constitution, Ship ~ on the English side. Therefore, yes, I too experienced some difficulties as well. 2) As for the passenger lists being available in the .pdf Format, I've seen that done on other web pages. Wolf would have to make the determination if that is viable for him to do. You are correct that in many cases it is important to see the ship manifest as a whole in order to see the groups traveling together - whether they may have been related or not. That could be true for the US Census data too, just in reviewing neighborhoods of city or farm/homestead dwellers. We will contact you off-list for further discussion of your ideas Ursula. Please know we are most appreciative! Kathleen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --- "Ursula B. I'm not convinced that it's a good idea to break down the passenger list for the sake of alphabetization. Here is why: there are times when family units who immigrated under different surnames [e.g. a married daughter]and/or other families from the same village all traveled together. When you separate the surnames into alpha-categories, this family or hometown association gets lost. Since the site has a search engine, this alphabetization is actually unneccessary. To illustrate my point: I was searching for Margarethe WAHL who emigrated from my hometown of Angersbach in the 1850s. When I found the passenger ship that she came on, I found 6 members of the GLITSCH family, 1 Georg Eichenauer, 1 Marg. Renker, all from the same village, whom I did'nt even know had emigrated as well! Had I been content in finding Margarethe WAHL by clicking on "W", I would have never found the other immigrants. This is also the reason why I think that having access to the actual manifest is so important. I wish I had time to help you all but I'm still employed full-time and have 2 websites to maintain. I noticed that the "German Page" is not yet active, can I help you in that department? 3. Seeking info on Maria Angelica Schmackers who left Bremerhaven 8:oo a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 1853. Arrivied at Slaughterhouse Point New Orleans, 27 Dec 1853, on the ship New England. She was d/o Gerhard Heinrich and Gesina Schmackers of Hanover, Germany. Most likely the kingdom of Hanover. Her family used, for their lively hood, a ship called a Schmack. Actually it was more of a Gully Whumper with sails. Built for shallow waters. They traversed the Mediterainen around the Atlantic coast and into the Fresian territories of North Western Europe. Mainly the river Ems. Gesina is Fresian for Gertrude. Her obit mentioned that her real name was Ongler, which may be French. Too might be a misspelled Engler, and English. I have collected family trees for the Schmacker(s) back to the year 1535, which we have translated. Some of that 400 year old German gave us a bit of a headache. There fore we have info on many family names which are connected. Willing to trade info. Somewhere something has to match sooner or later. Actually we have made a few connections and are presently trying to find a researcher in Europe that is interested. Perhaps we can place this collection of info on the Saxony Roots data? 3. Dear List, I am looking for information on my ancestor, ARNOLS FREDRICH GERDEMAN, who was a plantation administrator in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America, from about 1820 on to his death. He was the son of JOHAN RUDOLPH GERDEMAN and ELISABETH CHRISTINA WERNE. He died 16/12/1842 in Suriname. He was born: Lotte Graafschap Tecklenburg Germany 2/7/1793. I would very much appreciate any information on him and the rest of the family, historically and genealogically. Thank you. Marie Wilcox

    3. It is probably your mail server that is blocking incoming mail. If you changed something in your mail options lately, it may have caused it. Go in to your options and try unlocking your spam blocker to see if that helps, or send an email to your mail server and see if they can help. I'm sure there is someone out there that could give you better advice. I just know that it happened to me from changing my screen color and once from having my Spam blocker on. I also had a problem once from a screensaver. Try to think of something you recently changed and change it back. Probably did not give you much help but I tried, there are people out there who would know right off the bat. So why not help. Sharon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
