    2. Will you do me a favor? I have to start over on finding my gfathers sister,Ida Weintraub Hertzberg,All that I know for sure is that she and husband do not live in Chicago like her brothers-which is the thought . Her husbands name is Joseph and are from Latvia. The rest of the information that I have is wrong..For one thing, on dc it does not give her parents as Weintraub-Philip & Molly Goldman- Nor right birth date-I have been going acording to my gfathers birthday which is 1871,April 29-they list her date in 1891 and her death in 1985.If she was born then, she would not have any children but she had four children when she immigrated in 1904-06- Give me some suggestions-can you see when she immigrated and when she was born?

    3. I don't know if this is true for Ancestry, but, for my home county gen web list, they said that they won't make corrections, until after all the work is finished. But, they have added a feature where you can put a little note on the entry for corrections. At least, that's how I understand it. I had questioned about some names and dates mixed up on my relatives. For example, they gave Louisa Meier's name as Louisa Frantz. (No such person there, and they supposedly got that from the tombstone.) Some things in records, however, were just written by the original person doing the recording, the way it sounded to them, or they were just in a hurry and wrote fast, or the writing is just difficult to read. They probably will not want to correct the way the records were originally written, but they might be willling to add a little post it note with the correct information. I am still amazed at finally having someone send me the passenger list with my great-grandfather, Emil Conitz, on it, just yesterday. Last week, I had found his Declaration of Intention at the courthouse which has his ship, date of arrival, port of departure, etc. on it. I put out a query about that and someone very kindly found him right away. I never would have found him, myself! I had been searching for the ship "Adenmal" or "Adermal", as it was written on his document. And Emil Conitz, or just Conitz. No results. But, the person who responded , found him as Emanuel Conitz on the ship Admiral! I am so excited to know this, but just amazed at the change. Come to think of it, the way my grandfather said Emil, sounded a bit like Amuel, sometimes. (He was Emil Jr.) So, adding a German accent to that, no telling how it sounded to the person who was writing down the information. I was able to add a note on one passenger list when I thought I had found my great-grandfather, so that might be possible for you to do. They had a contact e-mail address, which is where I wrote. 3. Hi Lists, FYI - some time back, when I had an Ancestry membership, I found my Davis, misread as Mavis on the 1930 census. There was a procedure that I was able to use to notify Ancestry of error. The next time I pulled up the info, it was correctly listed as Davis. I don't know how quickly it was, but seems like the correction was made almost instantly. 3. Hello Dwayne, the german equivalent for the county in the USA is called "Landkreis". The village of Amorbach is located in the Landkreis called Miltenberg. Unterfranken is first of all the name of a regional area and second the name for a governmental district of the federal state of Bavaria. So it's Amorbach in the --> county of Miltenberg in the --> district Unterfranken in the --> federal state of Bavaria ZIP-Code for Amorbach is 63916 Beuchen is integral part of the village Amorbach since 1975. 2. I lived on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands for several years and have been to most of the islands. Can not imagine someone leaving the beautiful islands. During WWII however most of the islands were invaded by the Americans once occupied by the Japanese. My father used to fly each day to work on a small plane to an island Majuro. As you probably know that the islands are a US Missile Base. Saw many of them being launched as a young child. The Marshallese used to row boats over to our island, American occupied, and sell their goods. 3. Hello Clifford, Your ancestor's first name was probably Kresenzia/Cresenzia. She later went by the name of Grace {this name change would be a real nightmare for German family researchers wouldn't it!). You wrote that you can't come up with 'creative alternate spellings', try the Ellis Island site and in the search field type only the surname, i.e. "Amberger". It will then list every imagineable spelling and mispelling of that name. When you are sure that Grace came in 1904 [at least that's what she said on the 1910 census] you will have no choice but to click on each of the surnames to see if there is a Kresenzia or similar person hiding behind that surname. Do not type in her first name or the first letter of her first name, only the surname. I had to do that one time but luckily I found the person before I had to go through the entire list. Happy hunting!
