Dear subscribers to this list, I am sorry for causing confusion. I want to affirm that I am writing an acadamic research and that I am not working for a travel agency or somthing like this. I definitely will not send you any unwanted emails. Please ask me if you have got any further questions or recommendations. The main purpose of the service is to find out how the service in German archives and institutions can be improved for Non-German speakers and whether there is an inteterest in trips to Germany and how these trips could become more service-friendly. I would like if I can help somebody who has ancestors coming from the South-Münsterland (Area around Luedinghausen) as I have done quite a lot of research there. I am also researching family members who immigrated to the US: Wilde (of Luedinghausen in Westphalia); Reicks (of Darup in Westphalia), Buthmann (of Olfen in Westphalia); Hattrup (of Nordkirchen in Westphalia), Tillmann (of Bork in Westphalia) Sorry again if caused any confusion and for my poor English. What about the question of the potential for replies by the same person from multiple lists, since you posted this request to 2 lists that I know of - won't that skew your data? I find this methodology confusing. What does your adviser say about this? --- On Tue, 2/16/10, Stefan Wiemann <[email protected]> wrote: ...I want to affirm that I am writing an acadamic research... Perhaps it would be best if emails requesting surveys as such was not allowed on the List. There has been a lot of spam emails creating a great deal of problems on many List's recently. I went to the survey & it was more of a Travel Agency wanting feed back than a survey of Germany Ancestry. Sorry if this offends the original person who sent to the List requesting others to help with this dissertation of such. Personally, I don't think this should have been allowed on here. I hope the List owner will re-consider in the future to allow such emails like that one on here in the future. I am conducting an online survey on heritage tourism and genealogy related travel in Europe (especially Germany). I am looking for Americans interested in genealogy or travelling to Germany. Please take part in my survey! The questionnaire is part of my final dissertation at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany. I would be very grateful if you took your time to fill out the online questionnaire. Your data will be handled absolutely anonymously. Please follow this link to start my survey: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDd6NHc3bjMtdGcwVW1WcjZOUHZKOEE6MA Please forward this message to other people interested in family history or heritage tourism. I am interested in Genealogy Research for the following Surnames from Jodgelienen, East Prussia, near Konigsberg: Wermter and Tausenfriind (Tausenfriend, Tausenfreund, Tausenfreundt, etc..) My Great-Great Grandfather Carl Wermter and his wife Johanna Tausenfriind came to America, through Baltimore, in the 1880's with their children. I know most of the family history from them down to me but I don't have any info regarding their families that stayed in Prussia. An example is that their US Census stated that they had 15 children but only 8 were living so I'm curious who the other 7 were. Thanks for any help you may have. Thanks, Travis White [email protected]

Hallo Michael, I'm also from Hessen [Vogelsbergkreis] and could reply in German but in the interest of our forum members I'm answering in English. Do you have the DOBs of any of the immigrants and if not, can you at least give us the names of the grown children who accompanied their parents? There are HERMAN/HERRMAN/HERRIMANs in different counties in Michigan, making it virtually impossible to determine whether they are children of the immigrants or separate families from other parts in Germany. Unfortunately, their place of origin is only given as "Germany" instead of Hessen-D, so you see it would help a great deal if I knew the names of the children. Ursula from Michigan [ehem.
