Hello Jan, for what kind of information are you looking for (ship manifests, any kind of church book records - like birth/baptism, marriage, death/burial records etc. etc.)? What is/are the full name(s) of your Stuhlfauth ancestors you're seeking information for? What was the religious belief of your ancestors (Catholic - Protestant/Lutheran....)?? As others have already mentioned, the LDS has some microfilmed church books for Hassloch. Be careful when you decide to order those since they have films for two different places called "Hassloch". Your place of interest is "Hassloch, BA Neustadt" (Hassloch, district of Neustadt). Best wishes, Vera Nagel, Germany -----Original Message----- From: germany-passenger-lists-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:germany-passenger-lists-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jnfra Sent: Montag, 27. Dear Jan, Both Protestant and Catholic records for Hassloch in the Palatinate [Pfalz] AND some 19th Century civil registration records are available on microfilm through the FamilySearch centers. For a list of centers in your area see https://library.familysearch.org/ You will need to order the films to the center. The staff there can explain how it's done. To get the film numbers, it's best to use the old version of the FamilySearch Catalog, since the new one still needs a bit of work. You can access that at classic.familysearch.org. When you type "Hassloch" in "place search, you get two options. Choose "Hassloch, Bayern". That recipe book is a real treasure! Congratulations! Have fun with your research! Jan, If you go to familysearch.org you can do a surname search of that last name and there are a number of hits of the Catholic parish records for the town you are searching online already. I would have sent the information but you didn't mention a given name. These are not complete as volunteers are translating and uploading, but perhaps you'll find what you are looking for! Let us know if you find her! Susan Sent from my iPhone On Dec 27, 2010, at 10:25 AM, Jnfra <jnfra@aol.com> wrote: > > > > Jan N. Merry Christmas to all. In the past 10 years I have learned so much and deeply appreciate the help I received from the wonderful people on these mailing list. Happy New year Ruth Ann
Merry Christmas, to all the GPL! May you find the ancestors you are searching for in the coming New Year, along with Peace and Prosperity. Many thanks to Wolf, Ursula, and all the rest who are so diligently helping all who ask. A greater group of genealogists cannot be found. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day. Linda Merry Christmas to all GPL'ers! It's been a fascinating year albeit a bit quiet in recent months but I'm sure we'll find new ancestors that haven't been found yet. I have been trying to locate a German immigrant to Alaska around 1906 but since Alaska was a Territory back then, there are very few records to be searched. Another contributing factor was the First WW when many Alaskans along with the rest of the US states were very much anti-German. I found that out by reading some of the old archived newspapers online. The nice thing is, you don't need a permit or a gun to go ancestor hunting :-)! Best wishes to all genealogically speaking, from Ursula in Michigan. ____________________________________________________ There will come a time, when you'll have no more time. Johannes (John) Euchner son of Jacob F. and Anna Katharina (Kromoier) Euchner Using My Family access I just added spouse names back to 1812 births in Grafenberg, N.,RT., W. Germany and hope that those with the Euchner - Eichner - Eudmer - Hudmer names that connect with the tree and make contact with additional connections - corrections or questions. View on Ancestry Orlan Euchner 1902 - 1991 for all names. As there seems to be a solid brick wall for John Euchner 1838 - 1910 Germany to Iroquois County Illinois not found on Baltimore Pass. list in 1854 the trail research will center on: A: Family of Mary and Emma Stauffer - wife and sister-in-law 1860 Kalamazoo censes with family for more knowledge on Emma and especially Mary (Stauffer) Euchner 1860 - 1869 B. Children and their children's contact for John F to Minnie Bunker, Mary to Emil Treischel, Ben to Lillie Savoie, Anne to John Schroeder, Kate to Ezra Savoie. I do have many of the children's name for the above but little on spouse's or children. The Grant to Leah Pilotte line is complete, just needs refined for her Family in file. Hope to hear - RG and Starr
Bruce, I am no expert on German names, but I can handle a little German, and I would start with any variant spellings that I could think of. You have probably done this, but maybe a few suggestions would help you to search areas where you have not yet been successful. Since the name was changed from Kuhl to Cool I would start with the German word for cool which is "kühl" and would be pronounced something like "keel". "Ü" is sometimes written as "ue" so spellings like "Kuehl" and "Kiel" and "Keel" come to mind. Also, since the name is now "Cool" I would look for "u" sounds like "Koul" as well as the present form "Cool". Trying to find a person by the transcriptions that some come up with for names that were probably mis-spelled by a person who wrote down only what he/she heard can give you some real doozies. My own name "Wiese" has been mis-spelled more ways than I can count, and when you add the differences in given names into the mix, it is enough to drive one crazy. For example, my 2nd great grandfather went from "Joachim" (and variant spellings) to "James" on the last Census he appeared on, with the last name mis-spelled as "Weise". It took some time to find that. Best of luck, and Merry Christmas, Eugene M. Wolf, I haven't had much time for genealogy for the last year due to the illness and recent death of a family member. I'm guessing other researchers may have had some down time too for one reason or another. Don't give up on us; I, for one, am planning to pick up the threads of my Welter, Busch, Hamer family and trying find my Hessen ancestors. In the meantime, I've been reading the posts. Thank you for giving your time, sharing your skills and knowledge with all of us. I installed a guest book on our websites and now you can tell me what you like :-) ..and dislike.. :-( Just take a look and participate: http://www.germanyroots.com/start.php?lan=en and click on the brown "guest book" button on the left.. The holidays are approaching fast and I wish all of you A merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous and healthy New year !!
