Forwarded by List Admin. Subj: [GERMANS-WI] German War Deaths Date: 5/27/2003 3:12:59 PM Central Daylight Time From: rloss@bellsouth.net To: GERMANS-WI-L@rootsweb.com Just another search area for those of you that are looking for German solder/sailor/luftwafe war deaths. http://www.volksbund.de/ But first.........the site is in German so you should have some ability to read the basic German..........again, the site is not in English!!! At times, a popup will appear and ask for your basic information (mailing address and who you are looking for).......if you fudge a bit, you can get through this as it is a solicitation of funds to run the site and program......again, you have to have a basic knowledge of German. The site does not have all deaths, they are working on providing more information. Some information is sketchy (first and last names only), but if you hit the motherload, you will get first and last names, rank, place of birth, place of death and burial cemetery. Some of the information is from WW1, mostly from WW2. There are sites for American, English, Canadian war deaths but you have to go to Google to find the site address. http://www.google.com Regards, Robert Lipprandt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Subject: [GERMANS-WI] Schild/Manuel, Grant County, WI > SCHILD, Ernest/Ernst born Baut, Germany 1905, Possibly returned to Germany > to fight for Hitler.
