    1. [GERMANS-WI] Gipford (Goepfert)
    2. PLEASE. Someone hold the answer to my dead end!! There are three Gipford families living in Ellsworth WI. on the 1880 census- Wilhelm, Casper and Charles. However, there is also a Julius Gipford (Goepfert) listed at the St. Pauls Church in Ell sworth, WI as the father of children baptized in the 1880's. Does anyone know anything about these families or how they are all related. Any information on any of these families or this family name is needed. PLEASE-Someone have the answer/ Thank You Wendy from San Antonio. TX

    3. Maybe the Americanization of the surname?? I would assume Goepfert (or Göpfert) sounded very close to the surname Gipford and during naturalization hearings, it was changed?? Just a theory.
