A lot of ships sailing from Bremen, Germany came to Baltimore, MD, but Galveston TX was also a popular port, and some even came via Canada. Try looking at the immigrant ship transcribers guild website and you can look specifically at boats originating from Germany, then separated by date, which will should give you a better idea. You can also submit queries to them. I don't remember their website address off hand but you can do a search for it. What would be the most common ports of entry that the Germans came through for me to be able to start searching the records. The time frame would be 1870-1892. My entire family is from the Milwaukee area. Most of my family lived around Milwaukee/Waukesha County at one time. They came through New York. This was before Ellis Island. There were ports up and down the east coast though as well as Canada, Louisiana/Texas .Happy hunting!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judith Schweitzer" To: Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2003 8:29 PM Subject: [GERMANS-WI] Immigration Ports? > What would be the most common ports of entry that the Germans came through > for me to be able to start searching the records. There are a volume of books called Germans To America that cover that time frame. Books are indexed by sur name and include the ship and it's manifest. <|; ) - Jim Dohr<< __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
