I have a challenge on which I really need some help! My g-g-grandfather, Bernhard BORMANN came from Germany to the US abt 1855, and settled in Calumet Co, Charlestown Township, near New Holstein, WI. He married Anna THIESSEN and they had 6 children: Johanna (my g-grandmother), Emma, Anna, Friedrich, Bertha and Bernhard. Friedrich BORMANN married Emma ERBACH and their son, Frederick, was born 1/15/1918 in New Holstein. Fred Sr. died 5/25/1941 and his obit states that his son was in the military at the time, serving in the US Army Air Corps at Lowry Field in Denver, CO. The online SSDBI indicates that Frederick BORMANN died in Sept 1981 and his death benefit was sent to the US Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany. My guess is that he may have been career military or a civilian working at the US Consulate. My guess is that he may have died in Germany (SSDBI states that his last residence is not specified). How can I get more information on Frederick BORMANN? From the US Consulate, from the US Army? An obit? Burial location (in Germany or shipped back to the US)? Did he marry, have descendants, have a home base in the US? So many questions! Where do I start to look? Id appreciate any suggestions on research avenues (e-mail, snail-mail addresses, phone numbers and/or contact names). Thanks! Carol AWE
