    3. Hello, I have been looking at the Eckel information that I have. This is from the Ozaukee County biographies PHILIP ECKEL, merchant; was born in Germany in 1824; immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1832; was shipwrecked off the coast of Charleston, S.C., but, in a few days, sailed for Philadelphia, where the family resided until 1837; then removed to Hancock, Md.; in 1839, returned to Pennsylvania and settled at McConnellsburg, where he learned the mason's trade. In 1849, he was married to Mary Kern. In the fall of 1854, he came to Port Washington; continued his trade and also taught school; since 1860, he has been engaged in the grocery business. The children living are William, John L., Henry K., Ida Susan and Rollo. From the Milwaukee Death records: Phillip Eckel born Germany father Jacob, mother Kathrine Muenster born 4 Sep 1824 died 21 Apr. 1922. Informant Charles Eckel of Port Washington, buried Port Washington, WI. A group of Eckels from Bolanden, Germany came to the town of New Berlin in Waukesha Cty but eventually moved to Illinois. There used to be an Eckel park in Milwaukee now known as MCcarty park. This was a Henry Eckel born in Germany in 1865. My g.g.grandfather's sister Julianna Jung married a Carl Eckel and they lived for a time in Grafton in 1860 then moved to town of Addison in Washington County. Carl's mother Maria Schreiner was born in Niederalben and her husband Abraham Eckel probably in the same are in the late 1790s. They came to the town of Addison in 1846 or so. I believe there also was another Eckel family in the town of Farmington in Washington County in the 1850s. I don't have any further details on this family. all the best, Neal Degner Neal Degner
