Hello, The state of Wisconsin did not start collecting records until 1907. At that time they asked the counties to turn over a copy of thier records to the state. Some counties kept better records and some were better about turning them over then others. Birth and baptism records before 1900 were often kept by the churches rather then the government. Vital records usually states on their forms records for genealogy purposes will take 3 to 6 months to process and they usually mean that. You can call them but it may or may not make a difference. 5 Years ago the wait was usually 6 to 12 weeks but with the increase demand has increased the back log. At least this was the story I was given in the office about a year ago when I made my last request. The process is often much faster at the county seat, if that is known. I hope this helps.
