He became a naturalized citizen in Wisconsin in 1880. The same year he married Ernestine Fredericke Augusta RADLOFF on November 26 at Ev. St. Johannes Geminde Church (now St. John's United Church of Christ) in Cecil, Washington Tshp., Shawano County. Their children were: Ludwika (1881); Josephine (1883); Robert (1886); Ernestine (1888); Otto (1889); Olga (1891); John (1893); August (1895); Martha (1897); Louis (1899) and Hannah (1901). All were born in Washington Township. Ernestine RADLOFF was the daughter of Ludwig Johann RADLOFF and Augusta Hanna Caroline KLOEHN (KLEIN). Ludwig was born in Neusarnow, Cammin, Pommern on 05 Sept. 1831. Augusta was born 20 April 1836 in Medewitz, Cammin, Pommern. Ludwig and Augusta and four of their children (Wilhelm-1858; Ernestine-1861; August-1863; and Albert 1866) arrived in New York in July, 1868. Ludwig took out natualization papers in Shawano County on 6 April, 1874. Four children were born to them in Wisconsin: Carl (1869); Ernest (1872); Max (1874) and Anne (1876).
