You should have received a reply within about 6 weeks, if not sooner. There probably isn't any birth record of your great grandma as it was not required to register births before 1909 (I think). If they cashed your check, I'd call Madison and would also write a letter to them - and enclose a copy of your original request and a copy of the cancelled check. If you gave them only the year, I don't now if they would search a whole year for you.....or if they do that much searching, they probably put it on the back burner and that's why you haven't heard from them yet.
