I am new to this list and need some ideas. I'm trying to find out my ggrandfather's place of birth in Germany. So far I've checked all available census' for Dodge County, obituary, gravestone, naturalization record, marriage record, death cert., his children's birth records. Does anyone know of any other avenues I should be checking? Anton HARTMANN was born in Württemberg, Germany in 1859 and immigrated in either 1880 or 1881. He married Eva MAY in Ft. Atkinson, Jefferson Co., WI in 1887 and the following year they moved to Juneau, Dodge Co. where he lived the remainder of his life. He owned and operated a bakery in Juneau until his retirement and then worked some for the railroad. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. Regan Kanaley Martville, NY
HI, I don't know if this will help you, but it sure was a windfall for me. I looked at the church's baptismal records for all of my gggfa's children. I couldn't find the records for the 1st two, but bonanza on the 3d. It gave both parents' full name and where they came from in Württemberg (now Germany). When I looked at the baptismal record for my ggmo, six years later than for her brother, it said hardly anything. So try; you might luck into something.
