Does anyone know where Grosschoenau, Nied.oesterreich, Oesterreich is or was in Germany. I've found some WINTER ancestors who were from their in the 16 and 1700's and am wondering if anyone knows what part of Germany this was/is in. Thanks for your help! Tasha L. Hello Tasha; Nied. Oesterreich is Lower Austria in English. Grosschoenau(Gross Schoenau) would be a town there. Maybe it will help you to know that "Oesterreich" is Austria in the German language. Perhaps Grosschoenau is actually in Austria.
