    1. [GERMANS-WI] German families in Racine
    2. Hi Listers, The Wisconsin German families I'm researching are: Rudolph Hansche (Hunsche) who arrived in America in 1841, came to Racine in 1846. He married Anna Soergel, the daughter of Johann and Margaretha of Milwaukee. They had 9 children; Ernst, Sophia, Eliza, Georg, Fredrick, Katherine, Jacob, Clara, Charlotte. Fredrick married quite late and some of his children are still alive in and around Racine, however, I have not been able to make contact with them. Eliza was my great grandmother and she married William Piper of Racine. His father, Augustus Piper (nee Krumpieper) came over to America on the same ship as Rudolph Hansche. Their ship was broken up in a storm and they spent the winter in Santo Domingo. In April they were rescued and brought to America where they entered New York in May of 1841. Eliza and William's daughter, Esther, was my grandmother and she married Philip Hilker. Philip was the son of Ferdinand Hilker and Lydia Heiser. He was also related to all the other Hilkers in Racine in various ways. I do have quite a bit of information on these people but I'm lacking in pictures. I would love to make contact with someone in Racine who may know of these families. I have a lot to share also. Thank you, Carol Pattison
