Hi Listers, The Wisconsin German families I'm researching are: Rudolph Hansche (Hunsche) who arrived in America in 1841, came to Racine in 1846. He married Anna Soergel, the daughter of Johann and Margaretha of Milwaukee. They had 9 children; Ernst, Sophia, Eliza, Georg, Fredrick, Katherine, Jacob, Clara, Charlotte. Fredrick married quite late and some of his children are still alive in and around Racine, however, I have not been able to make contact with them. Eliza was my great grandmother and she married William Piper of Racine. His father, Augustus Piper (nee Krumpieper) came over to America on the same ship as Rudolph Hansche. Their ship was broken up in a storm and they spent the winter in Santo Domingo. In April they were rescued and brought to America where they entered New York in May of 1841. Eliza and William's daughter, Esther, was my grandmother and she married Philip Hilker. Philip was the son of Ferdinand Hilker and Lydia Heiser. He was also related to all the other Hilkers in Racine in various ways. I do have quite a bit of information on these people but I'm lacking in pictures. I would love to make contact with someone in Racine who may know of these families. I have a lot to share also. Thank you, Carol Pattison

Seeking emigration info regarding the SCHALLOCK families of McMillan area in Marathon County. Have found them in Germans to America, but need information as to from where in Pommern they emigrated. Have possible reference to Stettin area. These families emigrated between 1874-77. In particular looking for info on Frederick Schallock and Friederika Gentz (my ggrandparents). Also information regarding JACOBI families of Sheboygan County. Emigrated from Wixhausen (near Darmstadt), Hesse-Darmstadt in 1848. Have info regarding Christoph (my ggrandfather and family) but seeking info regarding his brother, Conrad, whom I believe was also in the area. Christoph married Katherine Raeder, daughter of Johann Raeder (Rader), son of Daniel Raeder.
Laurie - Thanks! I'll check my list to see if there is a Royal or Arvilla in my list around 1910 in that area. I appreciate your help! Hi Kathy, I know of a Royal Chrisinger that married Arvilla Butterfield Wilson. I don't know if Royal was his "real" first name. He would have been born around 1910, give or take a few years. He was her second husband so I don't know much about him, other than his name. But if you look in La Crosse area you might find something. I will give you the name of one of Arvilla's sons, but they may not know. Arvilla is still alive, but has Alzheimers pretty bad. Her son is Keith Wilson(wife Yvonne), address: 311 14th Ave. S. Onalaska, WI 54650 phone: 608-783-5294. Hope some of this helps. I seek info on the family of Mathias GERHART or variant spelling. His wife was Anna Marie SCHMITT, who d. ca 1846 They emigrated in 1842, coming from Ditscheid, Rhein-Pfalz, near Daun or Retterath, and not hugely far from Coblenz. With them were Michel and Ana. Ana coulld have been either wife or sister of Michel, a son of Mathias. Catharine, b 1840, also was of this family altho she was not on the passenger list, She ended up in Chicago in the late 1860s, as did Mathias, her father, I think. The HAERIGs were Mathias' mother's family, and some of them had previously emigrated to WI. I'd love to get a line in the US on any of these folks Jane in AZ

I'm looking for the parents' of my great grandfather, Michael Anthony Miller (prob originally Michael Anton Mueller). Michael was born in or near Trier in 1837 and immigrated about 1841. He enlisted in the Wisconsin 9th volunteer infantry 11 May 1861 in Sheboygan. His father's name said to be Anton. His siblings were: Mathew, Hubert, Elizabeth, Barbara, Lucy and Catherine, birth places and dates unknown.
