Thanks Gary for looking. It is an easy name to mis-spell which is part of the problem of tracking him. As far as I know he didn't marry until he finally ended up in Elko, NV where he spent the rest of his life. Family lore also says he had a freight company in either San Francisco or Sacramento which I can't find either!! I DO know he was a gold miner in Plumas County California as I did find him there after he left St. Louis. Gary, I don't think Joseph was his brother. Although I can't find his one brother. The other brother, John (Johann) stayed in Buffalo and lived out his life. The "missing" brother was Johann Georg. Could have changed his name to George. Or even Joseph, I suppose. Won't know until I find him!!
