Teresa, Seifert is one of my family names. My g-grandmother was Anna Katherina Seifert. I am still getting info from Germany, but the story is that all 8 Seifert siblings came to America, starting in the late 1880s, which would fit your timeframe. Several settled in NYC. This line originated in Erbach, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. You might do a surname cluster search (check the Hessen List archives for more info on this) to find out if there is another part of Germany that also has lots of Seiferts. Good luck. Leslie Bouvier
