Bill - Your attendance at Parks predates my mother making pizzas at the bar in stumbling distance. We did not move to Cahokia from South St. Louis until 1959. She did pizzas there in the mid-60's. By that time the it was called the "Ranch" or the "Rancho". A little further down the road on the left was "Daisy"s" where some of the Parks guys went too, and across the road was "Ronnie's Tavern", also a bit of a hang out for Parks. I think Daisy's may have been Daisy's even in the 50's, but Ronnie's have y still been Patrick's Meat Market. When the elder Mr. Patrick decided to retire, his son Ronnie converted the property into a profitable tavern. Surprisingly, all of these places are currently still taverns, although under different names and ownership of course. I don't understand the "not paying for itself" angle either, considering what my son in law paid for his four years (and will still be repaying for a number more years). People came from all over the United States ---- actually from all over the world to attend Parks, which means they got to charge higher rates for out of state tuition. And the real shame is that the campus sits vacant year after tear, and yet SLU is still paying to maintain the grounds and buildings and to provide 24/7 security. Go figure!!!
