Hello Nancy, My grandfather played in vaudeville in St. Louis also! I've never thought about trying to find his name in the paper. I wish we had an old newspaper article. His name was Frank Reeder, and he could play anything stringed or with a keyboard. My Mother used to tear up when she heard banjo music. She said it reminded her of her father. I'm going to write down your father's name also in case I come across anything about him. Thank you for the wonderful idea! I've been trying for years to get a lead on my father's career in Vaudeville. Recently,I found an old magazine article he'd cut out and on which made a notation. ( The article was about the old "St Louis Theater" then being taken over by the St Louis Symphony in 1968)...Dad wrote "I played at this theater the WEEK it opened in 1925, Nov?". I contacted the Symphony and they told me that the old theater opened Nov 25, 1925. They had an ad for the opening DAY, listing all of the performers...my father was not amongst them. I'm hoping that the ads might have been printed in the newspaper for the rest of that week...Nov 26-Dec1. 'Searching for a dance team...Bernard Ryan and Helen Bardon (don't know if they had a stage name??? You are very kind...if ever you need a favor from Orlando or New York City, I'll do my best to repay your kind act. Thanks again, Nancy --- Marrrmar@aol.com wrote: > Nancy, > I'll be glad to check the papers next week when I go to the library. > Anything in particular you are looking for in this ad? > Mimi > > > ==== GERMANS-STLOUIS Mailing List ==== > RootsWeb's mailing lists are filtered and attachments are removed.
