    1. [Germans-STL] Compton Hill Congregational Church
    2. Is anyone familiar with Compton Hill Congregational Church? I just found some papers that show that my grandparents, William and Helena Gaul Weitz, went there back in 1907 and probably were married there in 1905. Is it still in existence and where might it be located? Thank you in advance for any help. Frances

    2. Does anyone know about a Turnverein in north St. Louis? My uncle directed a choir at a Turnverein in the 1930's probably and he lived in north St. Louis, so I do not think it was the Turnverein in south St. Louis, but could be wrong.

    3. Mimi, How VERY kind of you. I've been trying for years to get a lead on my father's career in Vaudeville. Recently,I found an old magazine article he'd cut out and on which made a notation. ( The article was about the old "St Louis Theater" then being taken over by the St Louis Symphony in 1968)...Dad wrote "I played at this theater the WEEK it opened in 1925, Nov?". I contacted the Symphony and they told me that the old theater opened Nov 25, 1925. They had an ad for the opening DAY, listing all of the performers...my father was not amongst them. I'm hoping that the ads might have been printed in the newspaper for the rest of that week...Nov 26-Dec1. 'Searching for a dance team...Bernard Ryan and Helen Bardon (don't know if they had a stage name??? You are very kind...if ever you need a favor from Orlando or New York City, I'll do my best to repay your kind act. 2. Kathy Wieland
    3. Hello Nancy, My grandfather played in vaudeville in St. Louis also! I've never thought about trying to find his name in the paper. I wish we had an old newspaper article. His name was Frank Reeder, and he could play anything stringed or with a keyboard. My Mother used to tear up when she heard banjo music. She said it reminded her of her father. I'm going to write down your father's name also in case I come across anything about him. Thank you for the wonderful idea! He had founded a plumbing company in the city, which stayed in the family after Jacob's death. TIA for any help. Leslie

    1. Re: [Germans-STL] N.Olive Street ?
    2. Thats right. Sorry. It stops along the way west of Kingshighway and then around Skinker it picks up again and goes to Chesterfield where it becomes Clarkson Rd. I was thinking Olive a long time ago (not knowing if it went that far west then). J St. Louis

    1. Re: [Germans-STL] N.Olive Street ?
    2. Olive is an East/West directional street so having a N. Olive would be kind of odd. Though there is a North Market in St. Louis but it is completely different street from Market. (ie: not like North and South Broadway) Olive is a fairly long street starting downtown and going almost all the way to Kingshighway Blvd. That would be about 49 blocks long. Hope this helps.
