His fathers name was George Sunder Sr (b 1 May 1839 d 1 May 1917)who signed for him to be married.George Sr. wife name was Christina. Maude had a sister named Bessie Roseanna Armstrong who happens to be my ggrandmother. Hope this might connect with your Sunder Family. Would love to share info. 2. Hi David, If you feel that it is possible that your family settled in the Quad-City area of Davenport, Iowa, I suggest that you visit the following site: celticcousins.com Just type in your surnames & be amazed. I found 231 Walsh & 68 Kahl entries. Both families were very prominent there. Do not let the name "Celtic Cousins" through you. All my German Westendorf kin are there as well as the Irish. I would like to hear from you if you have a connection to the Walshes of Walsh Construction Co. I have family pictures which I would be pleased to share. Jo Westendorf Banks

He was suposed have come to California from New York as young man with a young lady is one of the stories I've heard. He settled around Holister California. He was married there twice. He is supose to have had brother named Bill? Owned a red wood saw mill in Fresno County California. His Father's name was Michael Mother was Emelia Nolon. From Ireland. Were is Frank was born don't . What I am thinking whith what little I he may have been bornaround San Benito County California 1865. It would be nice if we are conected. But I think we are not to the Walsh Constrution. 3. Gary - Thanks so much for all your good time on my Hollmann question. Now - if there's anyone out there who can identify Marie Isabel Hugen (married, St Louis Oct 1852 to Fred Klaver who died May 1883)and Louisa Hugon (married St Louis to Frederick Solter August 1855 - died 1873) as sisters - that would be my prize of the year. (Marie Hugen Klaver married Frederick Solter, widower, in St Louis in 1884 - Frederick got on the train and came from Sedgwick County, Kansas to marry her) I am sure they're sisters. I just can't document it.!! Phyllis Solter

    3. Hi David: Only name of the four given was this - "Annie" - which, if she was from Germany would be doubtful. From the dates given, sounds like they may have been some of the many who came thru New Orleans for the Midwest. In the 50s, three of four German immigrants came through St. Louis. They may have gone west or to farms in Illinois, Iowa or continued north to Minnesota, North Dakota, etc. although they probably would have come thru NY if that was their original destination. There were two Jacobs that fought in Civil War from NY and one from Ohio - Cincinnati was a large German town. Of the 58 Kahl's that show as Civil War soldiers, there are none shown from Missouri but several (6-7) from Illinois. There were anumber of Kahls in PA but these arrived in the 1760-90 period - the first large German emigration. A Jacob Kahl of Ft. Atkinson attended the Mondern Workman convention in Osshkosh, WI in1890 The second list is of all Kahls listed in the 1889-90 Directory. The third is of a William H. 1890 land purchase in Louisiana. A stretch but it wasn't uncommon for some to return to New Orleans if there was family there. The 4th is of the two Jacob Kahl's listed in the 1860 census. These are the only two showing birth in Germany. #5 is from the 1880 census and are the only two old enough to have traveled from Germany with a wife in 1850. 3. Hi, Gary - Not a thing - Here's the whole entry as it appears in the index that's at the St Louis Public Library. "This certifys that I joined together in the holy matrimony Mr John Friedrich Soelder & Louisa Hugon St. Louis, 24th August 1855. Chas Hollmann, Min. of the Gospel" I'm back to working on the particular brick wall of identifying my gggrandmother's family. This record shows yet another variant of the spelling of her maiden name. (Notice the spelling of Solter) I'm hoping I might make a St. Louis church connection.Identifying Chas. Hollmann is a shot-in-the-dark maneuver. 1. Surname: GUTZLER
    2. Is anyone else researching the surname GUTZLER in St.Louis City, 1870-19++?    My Barbara HERBEL married John Gutzler about 1874 --  Her brother Andrew HERBEL later married John's sister KATHERINE between 1900 and 1910. In 1900, John, Barbara, as well as Andrew were all at 1236 Sidney Street, St.Louis City.        Barbara and John had a daughter Mary or Mamie (both names used in various census) -- as late as 1910, Mary/Mamie was single and living with a widowed aunt, Anna N. Hanna (70), married 2x but a widow.  They lived at 145 Victor Street in 1910.        I have been unable to located any children for the Katherine GUTZMAN and Andrew HERBEL union.        I do have information on the HERBEL family, my grandmother's line.        Would love to find a connection to these families !!! I am searching for any information about my great-great-great grandfather, Georg Friedrich Weckherlin and also my great grandfather, Andreas (Andrew) Weckherlin. Georg moved to Hermann, MO. in 1850 from Wurttemburg, Germany. Obviously he was one of the 48ers. He was a lieutenant in the army in Germany in Ludwigsburg and later a captain in the union army in St. Louis. Benton Hussars. After that I have no idea what happened to him. Andreas just disappeared. It is said he drowned in the Mississippi River. He was from St. Louis too. He had a son, Frederick Andrew Weckherlin (my grandfather) in 1896. I would really like to know something about my great grandfather so if you know something, pleaae write me or tell me where I could find some information. Thanks!
