    3. Nelson, U might want to start with "HELP" on the main page... which takes U to http://www.sggee.org/Help Using links like Parish Records and Surname Database Links will show U that most of the data that actually exists is [also] on the Odessa Digital Library... Those are directly available at http://pixel.cs.vt.edu/library/stpete/volhynia/ with the search engine being at http://pixel.cs.vt.edu/library/search.html It is perhaps worthwhile mentioning that Roger Ehrich and company have improved to search engine and that it is possible to search for more than just [by] name... And just to pre-empt more questions; that information is found at HELP with Odessa queries, per : http://pixel.cs.vt.edu/library/queryhelp.html THIS will allow U to search for a particular village... < on any data in the Odessa Digital Library... > For instance, use just "Shitomir" and U will get all data for Shitomir... Etc. etc. ... Use "Ittermann w/5 Shitomir" and U will see Ittermann data for the Shitomir location... I will send the information under separate cover < since no doubt not everyone here is interested in tha page of "Ittermann w/5 Shitomir" results...... ;) > Hope this helps, Jay Meeuwig ----- Original Message ----- From: Nelson To: GR-GENEALOGY@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU Sent: Sunday, February 01, 2004 4:43 PM Subject: Re: [GR-GENEALOGY] Vohlynia Villages How do you do a village search on the SGGEE Website? How would the village name be identified? There were Mennonites in Volhynia but generally further south and east. There were also scattered settlements of Baptists and Moravian Brethern but they too were concentrated further east. Most of your people, at least in that time frame and location, would have been Lutheran. A Julius Kluge was born 18 Feb. 1883 in Swiczow and died 4 Apr. 1883 in Swaroff. I would really like to know more about these villages, and the records for them. I currently have 3 surnames (4 if I ever pursue Weiss) that might have been Mennonite, Lutheran, or some other protestant religion. Thanks in advance, Kathee (researching Spenst, Pommer, Kluge, and a multitude of others) *Please Note NEW Email Address* Jerry Frank - Calgary, Alberta FranklySpeaking@shaw.ca
