    3. Miriam, thanx for your note. Please note that I have not suggested that the names are "interchangable". Actually the name that was shown was HuMMan, not HumaNN... and yes indeed HUMANN is a valid familyname in Bessarabia. However Andreas born in 1793,,,, was a HUMMEL and neither a Humman (typo?) nor a Humann (mistake?) I should like to note that it does pay to pay close attention to detail, which unfortunately isn't always the case or evident in/from the databases that we have access to. Consequently, as users of same we need to be fully aware of the "foibles" and "fables" of the data that we work with. It also helps of course to know the "lay of the land"... which is why i pointed out that there were no <male> HUMANNs in Kloestitz... At least not in the data that is available todate. I hope that clears this up. Jay Researcher of HUMMEL, and a few other names... ;) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Miriam Hall-Hansen" <mchall@xmission.com> To: "JM_on_GR_G" <JM_on_GR_genealogy@telus.net> Sent: Sunday, April 04, 2004 4:51 PM Subject: Re: [GERmanRUSsian] ERRATUM; HUMMAN s/b HUMMEL > The name Humann and Hummel are not interchangeable but are separate families- Miriam Hall-Hansen > > JM_on_GR_G wrote: > > > On the Bessarabian Index, Phase 2, Part 1 *** > > > > we find: > > LAST First born h# p# f# Film # It Village > > Remarks > > > > HUMMAN Andreas 1793 59 10 343 1767907 4 Kloestitz > > HUMMEL Andreas 1793 59 123 491 1767907 5 Kloestitz > > HUMMEL Andreas 1793 58 129 375 1766558 2 Kloestitz > > > > HUMMEL Christian 1876 58 135 140 1766560 1 Kloestitz > > HUMMEL Gottlieb 1838 58 135 140 1766560 1 Kloestitz > > (Beresina) > > HUMMEL Gottlieb 1838 59 123 491 1767907 5 Kloestitz > > HUMMEL Gottlieb 1838 58 129 375 1766558 2 Kloestitz > > HUMMEL Gottlieb 1869 58 136 141 1766560 1 Kloestitz > > > > It strikes me that HUMMAN should be HUMMEL ... > > There were no HUMMANs in Klöstitz not even any HUMANNs > > > > Anyone searching for a particular family name would do well to scrutinze the > > ENTIRE file(s), > > rather than just doing a search for the desired family name.. > > One never knows WHAT one finds... > > > > More on the way, > > > > Jay Meeuwig > > > > *** See: http://pixel.cs.vt.edu/library/bess/bessind/link/bipart1.txt
