Portland Oregonian 6 Jan 2002 Louis Byron Herder A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Monday, January 7, 2002, in the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, Va. for Louis Bryon Herder, who died Jan 1 aa age 76. Mr. Herder was born Dec 12, 1925, in Portland. He graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S.Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He later was in the Naval Invesigative Service until retiring as regional director of the Philippines office in 1979. He moved to San Diego in 1968 and later lived in Alexandria and the Philippines, until returning to Alexandria after retirement. He was a deacon and choir member in the church. In 1949 he married Gloria Liddy. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Sara H. Borders and Suzanne E. Herder; son, Stuart C; sisters, Frances Sinner, Geneieve Miller and Eloise Matlack; brothers, Wallace and Peter and two grandchildren. Remembrances to the memorial fund at the church.
