In the 1940's there were quite a few families that lived in the McIntosh and Logan County, ND area moved to Ingham County, Michigan - in the Lansing area for the automotive industry. My mom's family was one of them. Her two older sisters were born in Ashley, ND and she was born in Lansing. My grandmother's Hildenbrand siblings moved to Lansing about this time. I think my mom said that the church they first started going to, Holmes Street Baptist and the service was given in German for a while. When the church became too small, another church was built, Colonial Village Baptist Church in Lansing. I can remember alot of people there that were from the ND area and spoke German.
