Linton, N.D. - The funeral for Della W. Flegel, 83, of Linton died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at her residence. Della W. Bechtle was born Jan. 12, 1918, to Gottlieb and Eva A. (Schaefer) Bechtle in Linton. She attended Linton Public School and graduated from high school in 1936. She worked for the Emmons County Welfare Board for several years. She married William E. Flegel on May 10, 1942, in Linton. In 1963 she began working at the Emmons County Record as a social editor and bookkeeper, working for several editors. She was employed there at the time of her death. She was a member of the Linton United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and on various committees including the church board and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Emmons County Historical Society, Linton Hospital Auxiliary and Linton Senior Citizens, All Class Reunion Committee and many others. She was also a 4-H leader, Youth Fellowship leader and worked with her husband with the Linton Cub Scouts. Survivors include one son, William Alen (Nancy) Flegel of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Colleen (Steven) Peterson of Carpio, N.D., and Cheryl (Eldor) Scheid of Fargo, N.D.; two sisters, Lavina Flegel of Great Falls, Mont., and Juanita Lundell of Green Bay, Wis.; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
