Esther Leota Miller, 84, of Lodi, died Oct. 24 in a local hospital, of natural causes after a brief illness. She was born Esther Wagner on Sept. 20, 1917, in Republic, Kan. Mrs. Miller moved to Hague, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1918, where she lived and attended school. She married Manuel Miller on Aug. 9, 1939, in Hague, and the couple moved to Lodi. She was a homemaker, and a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lodi. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, sewing, and canning. She is survived by her husband, Manuel Miller of Lodi; sons, Donald Melvin Miller of Livermore and Dr. Robert Gene Miller of New Iberia, La.; daughter, Dr. Elaine Adele Miller-Debeau of El Dorado Hills; sisters, Helen Hennecke of Sacramento and Florence Amendt of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
